The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a long-term savings and investment plan created by the Canadian government to help people with disabilities and their families save money for the future tax-free.
It’s similar to an RESP or RRSP, but designed specifically for individuals who qualify for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
Advantages:
This is the biggest advantage.
The government gives two types of contributions:
The government matches personal contributions by 100% to 300%.
Up to $3,500 per year.
Up to a lifetime maximum of $70,000.
For low-income families.
You don’t have to contribute anything.
The government can deposit up to $1,000 per year,
Up to $20,000 lifetime.
Money inside the RDSP grows tax-free until it’s withdrawn.
